On Tuesday, March 25, 2025 au cours d' un symposium sur les investissements , the President of the Transition gabonaise, Brice Oligui Nguema, announced the creation of an autonomous amortization fund in Gabon.

The investment symposium brought together the main players in the national economy as well as multilateral donors and financial institutions such as Agence Fran& ccedil; development aid (AFD), the African Development Bank (BAD ), the Bank of Central African States (BEAC). Indeed, the mission of the Autonomous Amortization Fund will be to define Gabon's debt policy, including the research, study and negotiation of financing, whether external or domestic, necessary for the financing of State projects. This structure will be responsible for actively participating in the money and financial market. In addition, it must guarantee the timely repayment of debts, thus limiting the risks of insolvency while strengthening Gabon's credibility with its creditors and investors

Selon l' agence de notation Fitch Ratings , the government is looking for solutions to control its debt, which was high to 67% of GDP at the end of 2024.
