The Guinean government recently signed a $35.735 million financing agreement with the Kuwaiti Fund for the construction of the Enco 5 interchange in the capital Conakry. This amount will be supplemented by a State contribution of 7.6 million USD. The work consists of the construction of a highway bridge of approximately 260 meters in 2 x 2 lanes, and the rehabilitation of 1.5 km of a road connecting the latter to Le Prince road. The rehabilitation and extension of 2 km of the T4 junction between the Enco 5 roundabout and the T4 intersection on the Fidel Castro highway are also planned with the creation of a 2 × 2 lane tunnel and a 12 m wide roundabout. This interchange project is in addition to several others such as those in Bambeto and Cosa included in the investment program planned to ease traffic in Conakry, where certain critical arteries such as the Le Prince section and the Fidel Castro highway drain a significant flow of vehicles on a daily basis. Like most emerging cities in Africa, the city is in fact facing sustained population growth that the road network is struggling to keep up with
