This workshop is dedicated to the impact assessment of development projects supported by the World Bank in West and Central Africa.
For five days, the World Bank and its partners intend to measure the significant and lasting changes generated by the whole of their development initiatives, whose main objective is to improve the well-being of the beneficiary populations. Thus, until May 9, 2025, the World Bank Group, its partners, project coordinators and experts from West and Central African countries will discuss a number of questions. These include questions about the development programs designed and their national priorities; about the real impact of technical and financial supports on human development; on failures and how to capitalize on
funding. The participants will assess what has been done in the use of statistics, for the conceptualization of economic and social development programs, in the framework of the partnership with the African regions of the World Bank and the Monetary Fund. “We are doing an important job in order to better design programs. Because as an institution, whose mission is to fight poverty, to create the conditions for shared prosperity, we cannot move forward if we do not have reliable data at the base. Our objective is totally focused on the fundamental issue, that of implementing programmes that provide jobs for citizens. Because when jobs are available, a country not only develops, but at the same time, it ensures its sustainability, stability and security, while evolving,” suggested Ousmane Diagana, Vice President of the World Bank for Africa and West Central
.This meeting to share knowledge and experiences on best practices in evaluating the impacts of development projects and programs should make it possible to measure results in key areas, for adjustments and improvements, based on evidence.
The President of the National Assembly, the Honourable Kodjo Adedzé said that monitoring and evaluation are essential tools for verifying and improving the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of projects and programmes at various stages of their implementation.
