On Thursday, May 8, 2025 in Rosso, two African countries, namely Senegal and Mauritania, officially launched the Senegal River Valley Community Resilience and Development Project (PRDC_VFS) in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

The Senegal River Valley Community Resilience and Development Project aims to sustainably strengthen the resilience of communities bordering the river in the face of climate shocks, social exclusion and territorial imbalances. It is a cross-border initiative supported by the World Bank. The project aims to guarantee equitable access to basic social services (education, health, drinking water), to develop infrastructures that are resistant to climatic hazards (dikes, irrigation systems, rural roads), and to promote inclusive local governance, based on the active participation of populations

.

In addition to its technical dimensions, the PRDC_VFS is intended to be a sub-regional integration model. Its first phase concerns Senegal and Mauritania, but an extension to Mali is planned, thus consolidating cooperation in the area of the Organization for the Development of the Senegal River (OMVS
