Algerian Finance Minister Abdelkrim Bouzred made his statement during a plenary session devoted to oral questions at the National People's Assembly (APN), chaired by the institution's Vice President, Zouhaier Nasri. The Minister for Relations with Parliament, Kaouter Krikou, was also present. According to the statement, a large part of this sum, 437 billion dinars, was used to finance projects and commercial operations. The minister also specified that more than 745,000 accounts have been opened under Islamic finance until September 2024. According to the latter, the 12 banks now offer Islamic finance services in Algeria, including two entirely dedicated to this type of services, out of the 20 banks active in the country.
