^{The Nigerian capital Abuja has been hosting the 32nd Afreximbank Annual Meetings (AAM2025) since Wednesday, June 25, 2025.} This is a major meeting to promote the economic development of the African continent.

Organized around the theme, “Building the Future on Decades of Resilience”, AAM2025 will end on 28 June 2025 and brings together Heads of State and Government, policy makers, policy makers, business leaders and financial experts from Africa, the Caribbean and other parts of the world.

Several topics are on the agenda, in particular the acceleration of the implementation of the AfCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area); the improvement of cross-border payment mechanisms to facilitate regional trade; the strengthening of relationships between economies between Africa and the Caribbean, through the development of tourism, joint investments and new value chains; the increased participation of the private sector in economic and institutional reforms

The Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis invited African and Caribbean leaders in his speech to embrace a new era of transformation. According to him, “resilience must now be accompanied by reinvention, the courage to reimagine ourselves as architects, as we build our nations together. The Atlantic no longer divides us; it now connects us by a new bridge, made not of wood and steel, but of peoples, partnerships and vision.”

The AAM2025 is also a framework that should encourage the conclusion of commercial agreements and public-private partnerships, estimated at several billion dollars in funding over the next 5 to 10 years. Memoranda of understanding in the fields of energy, infrastructure, technology and agriculture are expected.
