The Prime Minister of Cape Verde revealed on the evening of Wednesday, June 25 on his social network that the World Bank will officially classify the country as an “upper middle income country in 2026”. The World Bank makes the ranking in its updated classification of country incomes for the fiscal year 2026

Le premier ministre Ulisse Correia e Silva pointed out that the Cape Verde ranking “reflects the solid growth of our économie” qui a enregistré “une augmentation de 7.3% in 2024 and inflation under control of only 1.7%”. According to him, “this success is the result of the hard work of our people, the trust of our partners and the strategic vision that we have implemented as a government.” The Prime Minister also indicated that, recognizing the challenges that remain to be met, Cape Verde will work with the World Bank Group to define a transition plan as part of the new partnership strategy with the country
