The latest World Bank report mentions that Mauritania's economic growth slowed in 2024, falling to 5.2% from 6.4% the previous year.

The slowdown in economic growth in Mauritania is attributed mainly to a drop in production in the extractive sector, a pillar of the national economy, as well as to more moderate public consumption. Despite this downturn, the World Bank notes a continued consolidation of macroeconomic fundamentals, driven by a tight monetary policy, the fall in international food and energy prices, and prudent fiscal management

According to the information, in the medium term, the forecasts remain generally positive. Between 2025 and 2027, growth is expected to stabilize around an average of 4.9%. However, the report warns of persistent risks, linked to the instability of global markets and the country's internal vulnerabilities.
