The year 2024 was characterized by a marked improvement in import customs clearance times and record performance for the Customs Administration. On the operational side, the time required to process import transactions has been significantly reduced, from 7:42 a.m. to 6:16 a.m., a gain of one hour and twenty-six minutes (after a decrease of 30 minutes in 2023)

.

This performance is mainly explained by the increase in revenue from value added tax (VAT), domestic consumption tax (TIC) and import duty (ICT) and import duty (DI), indicates the ADII in its activity report for fiscal year 2024.

Compared to the forecasts of the 2024 Finance Law, customs revenue reached 104.9% in duty paid and 108.1% in established duty, says the same source.

The structure of budgetary customs revenues in 2024 was marked by a drop in the share of ICT by 1 point (i.e. 27% in 2024 against 26% in 2023) in favor of VAT, which represents 62% of achievements, and DI representing 12% of revenues.

By category, VAT revenue grew by 11.9%, reaching MAD 84.9 billion against MAD 75.8 billion in 2023, driven in particular by the 16.1% increase in VAT on other non-energy products.
