The African Development Bank (ADB) celebrates 60 years of existence from Monday 9 to Tuesday 10 September 2024 in Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire, in Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire.

The 60th anniversary festivities started this morning with the theme “60 years of making a difference.” Created on September 10, 1964, this celebration will highlight the Bank's journey, its transformative role in Africa's development, and its vision for the continent's future. during this event, traditional musical and cultural activities, discussions on the Bank's institutional footprint, discussions on the Bank's institutional footprint, an exhibition, and a seminar with community stakeholders, including students, young people, and more are taking place. innovators and entrepreneurs, as well as civil society, and a Staff Council symposium

Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 10, will include several events looking back at the Bank's key milestones and its impact on Africa's economic development since its inception. The day will also be marked by traditional events and messages of support from the Bank's partners, as well as by the recognition of the staff member who won the internal competition to design the Bank's 60th anniversary logo. On the occasion, the financial institution in the spotlight will also launch a youth community of practice (Y-CoP) and an intergenerational dialogue on inclusive growth and sustainable development

The Youth Community of Practice, is a new knowledge platform for young people in Africa and around the world, allowing them to engage in critical thinking and peer learning, while identifying evidence-based solutions to build resilient and sustainable growth in Africa.
