Le mardi 29 octobre 2024, le groupe bancaire panafricain Ecobank announced an 8% increase in its net profit in the third quarter of 2024, to 340.5 million dollars, a result attributable to a decrease of 18% of its cost of risk.

The group's net banking income (GNP), adjusted to compensate for currency fluctuations, was nearly $1.5 billion, a figure that was stable compared to last year. According to Jeremy Awori (photo), CEO of the group, turnover would have increased by 17%, the profit before taxes, which stood at 491 million dollars, would have increased by 26%, and the net income (group share) of 28% to reach 232 million dollars, without the impact of the depreciation of African currencies on its activities. In terms of operating expenses, a slight decrease of 1% confirms the group's efforts to strengthen its operational efficiency, which resulted in operating income of 490 million dollars, up 9%. The banking group, listed on both the BRVM, Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), and Nigerian Stock Exchange, indicated that these performances allowed a return on tangible equity of 32.9% and a 4% growth in earnings per share (EPS) of 4%, which

reached 0.94 cents of a dollar.

Aussi, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated ( ETI), which raised $400 million during of this third quarter, had to inject 10 million dollars of equity, composed of 5 million dollars in the form of equity and additional Tier 1 equity, into its Nigerian subsidiary
