Last Tuesday, Togo concluded and unveiled its third PEFA assessment (Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability). This assessment covered the period from 2019 to 2021.

The aim of the Togo PEFA report is to provide an objective and detailed analysis of the country's public financial management system. It highlights progress and areas in need of improvement. This assessment is carried out at the request of the country concerned every four years. It makes it possible to assess the transparency and accountability of the government towards its citizens. The results of the last evaluation show a significant improvement over the previous evaluation in 2016. While higher-than-average grades were rare in 2016, they have become the majority. Of the 31 indicators analyzed, 17 (or 55%) saw their score improve, attesting to the significant progress made by Togo in terms of public management.
