Senegal will serve as the framework in September 2025 for the annual African Food Systems Forum (AFS Forum), commonly known as the African Food Summit. 6,000 international participants are expected to participate in the initiative of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). ), an independent organization fighting for the improvement of African agriculture.

The next African Food Systems Forum, which will be organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock of Senegal, with the support of the Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, will benefit ; the national economy according to the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock, Mabouba Diagne. The minister said that “for the organization of this forum, Senegal was in competition with big countries like Nigeria.”

As a reminder, the last edition of this Forum was held from 2 to 6 September 2024 in Kigali, Rwanda, under the theme “Innovating, Accelerating and Evolving: Achieving the Transformation of Food Systems in the Digital and Climate Age”. Each year, this Forum brings together the various African stakeholders and is a platform for taking effective measures and sharing experiences to transform food systems on the continent
