This agreement makes it possible to provide support to the Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources and to further promote fishing in Côte d'Ivoire with the creation of 40,000 direct jobs and 400,000 indirect jobs according to the EU ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, Francesca Di Mauro. According to the EU, the agreement allows fishing opportunities for 32 vessels, including 25 tuna seiners, freezers and seven surface longliners, and includes access to the Ivory Coast fishing zone corresponding to a reference tonnage of 6,100 tonnes per year. The financial contribution in favor of Côte d'Ivoire is set at 740,000 euros per year, i.e. a total amount of 2,967,000 euros (nearly 2 billion CFA francs) for the period 2024-2028.
