After their successful entry into the Chinese market at the 6th CIIE in November 2023, fresh Beninese pineapples, belonging to the Sugarloaf variety, were presented again at the 7th CIIE. A company importing fresh Beninese pineapple in China is actively working to exploit the sales channels of this fruit, while promoting export processes

in Benin.

In September 2023, China and Benin signed an agreement to import fresh pineapples from Benin into China, in order to allow these fruits to be presented, only two months later, to the 6th CIIE. These fruits have become a star product in the last two editions of the CIIE. Benin's stand at the 7th CIIE was bigger than that of the previous edition, because, in addition to fresh pineapples, dried fruits and pineapple juice were also presented, alongside honey and cassava flour from this African country. According to Ms. Chen, Beninese pineapples could be very popular on the Chinese market. Since December 1, 2024, China has granted zero tariff treatment to 100% of tariff lines for imports from more than 40 least developed countries that maintain diplomatic relations with it, including 33 African countries
