Benin obtained a guarantee of 200 million euros ($211 million) from the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) to raise 500 million euros ($527 million) in long-term commercial financing. This fundraiser will make it possible to finance strategic social and climate projects in the country. According to an official statement, The funds mobilized through this guarantee will be allocated to several priority initiatives, including the strengthening of the single social register to better target vulnerable populations, disaster risk management, and the adoption of regulations promoting sustainable cities. This guarantee comes as Benin continues its efforts to diversify its sources of financing.
