Dans le but de collaborer pour relever les défis cruciaux de l' Afrique en matière de logement et de développement urbain, Shelter Afrique Development Bank (SHAfDB) and the African Union (AU) have signed a memorandum of understanding.

L'accord entre ShafDB and the AU fall within the framework of Agenda 2063 and underlines the shared commitment to ensure a high standard of living, quality of life and the well-being of all African citizens. This partnership will rely on innovative solutions, resource mobilization, and policy development to create a lasting impact, with an estimated 53 million housing units needed on the continent and a financing gap of $1.4 trillion

Several areas are covered by this memorandum of understanding. These include sustainable housing and urban development; addressing the housing deficit; capacity building; resource mobilization; policy development and advocacy; research and technological innovation; and environmental sustainability.

The agreement also includes provisions for cooperation with AU subsidiary bodies, including AUDA-NEPAD and the African Union Peace Fund, in order to harmonize efforts across the continent.
