Djezzy, a major mobile telecommunications operator in Algeria, recently signed a strategic partnership with Algérie Télécom, the historical telecom leader in the country. This agreement is mainly aimed at improving the quality of services for Algerian consumers and at strengthening the ICT sector (Information and Communication Technologies)

.

The signing ceremony took place at Djezzy's headquarters in Dar El Beïda, in the presence of Mr. Adel Bentoumi, Chairman and CEO of Algérie Télécom, and Mr. Mahieddine Allouche, interim CEO of Djezzy, and several senior executives from both entities.

The Twinbox, equipped with the functionality of a 4G modem, also offers access to a wide range of multimedia content. In particular, it allows the live streaming of sports events and gives access to a rich library of programs via the TOD platform of the beIN Media group. It also includes Algerian applications dedicated to online learning, thus contributing to the promotion of digital education in the country

.

This initiative is part of the national strategy to promote digitalization and local innovation. “With Twinbox, Algérie Télécom and Djezzy reaffirm their commitment to promote digitalization and innovation in Algeria. This solution encourages local start-ups to enrich the content and functionalities of the service, thus strengthening the national digital ecosystem,” say the telecom operators

.

Regarding the E-Government Development Index (EGDI), Algeria ranks thirteenth in Africa with a score of 0.5956 out of 1. This result is higher than the continental average (0.4247), but still below the global average (0.6382). On the other hand, on the Online Services Index, the country has a score of 0.3320 out of 1, lower than the African average of 0.3862. The initiative could improve these statistics.
