Togo is positioning digital technology as a strategic lever for development as part of its 2025 Roadmap. To support the country in this initiative, the World Bank is providing financing of 100 million

dollars (about 62 billion FCFA).

The envelope granted by the World Bank is also part of the new country partnership framework, which provides a total of $613 million in new funding to support strategic priorities. The Togo project was approved on Wednesday 18 December and aims in particular to connect around 8,000 public institutions, such as schools and hospitals, to a high-speed digital infrastructure. It will allow more than one million Togolese to benefit from improved access to the Internet. The project also plans to strengthen the technological skills of the population, with an emphasis on young people and women, who are often underrepresented in major development projects. Fily Sissoko, World Bank Resident Representative in Togo believes that “by focusing on digital technologies, we support the government's strategy to accelerate the country's economic transformation, boost productivity and innovation, while developing digital skills and fostering entrepreneurship.”
