The Grand Tortue Ahmeyim (Gta) project is developed by the association composed of Smh, Petrosen, BP and Kosmos Energy. It is located on the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal and represents one of the largest deepwater gas discoveries in the region. This project is supported by exemplary cooperation between the two nations and testifies to their commitment to the sustainable exploitation of natural resources, for the benefit of the populations and economies of both countries. The press release states that the opening of the first well in the project marks the culmination of technical operations and paves the way for the start of gas marketing, which is expected very soon. For Birame Souleye Diop, Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines of Senegal, the opening of gas wells is a historic step for Senegal. It reflects our shared vision with Mauritania to make the Gta project a successful energy collaboration model.”
