The head of the Export and Import Control Authority, Essam Al-Naggar, said on Saturday, January 4, that the customs clearance time has been reduced to 8 days since April 2024, compared to 16 days in 2021, according to World Bank measures.

Reducing customs clearance time lowers the cost of goods and facilitates the flow of foreign trade. “The authority aims to reduce this period to six days in the coming period, with the aim of reaching only two days by the end of 2025,” Al-Naggar told Al-Hadath Al Youm channel on Friday

(January 3rd).

“There will be amendments to Importers Act number 121, which will be presented to the House of Representatives this month in order to solve many of the problems investors face,” he pointed out.

al-Naggar reported that the Authority had made changes regarding the cancellation of sole proprietorships in the event of the death of the owner and added the possibility of reconciliation in the event of changes in the commercial register in order to facilitate the business environment.

The Head of the Authority also emphasized that an “open door” policy is being adopted in order to solve the problems and overcome the difficulties faced by customers, noting that the Authority has been working seven days a week, from 8 am to 6 pm, since December 2024.
