Le Conseil des Ministres qui s' est tenu en Mauritanie le jeudi 16 janvier dernier a permis d' examiner et d' approuver un certain nombre de projets de loi et adopted draft decrees.

Le Bill declaring assets and interests aims to fill the gaps registered in terms of effective practice over 18 years and to comply with the principles of the United Nations Convention on Struggle against corruption. It also aims to enhance transparency, prevent conflicts of interest, combat illicit enrichment, and promote probity and good character in public life. The project also provides the legal tools needed to effectively process and control declarations.

The Anti-Corruption Bill aims, on the one hand, to fill the legal gaps and shortcomings identified by the experience of implementing the 2016-014 Anti-Corruption Act over the past period, and, on the other hand, to introduce the recommendations resulting from of the periodic review of the provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
The National Anti-Corruption Authority Bill establishes an independent national authority called the “National Anti-Corruption Authority” whose mission is to prevent corruption, entrench the principles of good governance and strengthen integrity and transparency. It limits possible transgressions of the law through the design of effective monitoring and control tools while involving stakeholders.

Also, the Council also examined and adopted draft decrees such as the Draft Decree establishing the procedures for the orientation and awarding of scholarships for higher education students; the Draft decree appointing the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aïoun Hospital Center; the Draft decree appointing the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aïoun Hospital Center; the Draft decree on appointment of the President and members of the Board of Directors of the National Office of Rural Water Services (ONSER); the Draft decree appointing the President and members of the Board of Directors of the Société Nationale des Forages et Wells (SNFP); and the Draft decree appointing the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall
