The premises of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) in Lomé served as the framework for the Council of Ministers of the Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets (CIMA) held behind closed doors on Thursday, July 10, 2025. It was the first meeting of the year.

The work took place in person and by videoconference under the aegis of the Minister of Economy and Finance of Mali, President of the Council, Mr. Alousséni Sanou, with fellow ministers at his side, with fellow ministers at his side, including that of Togo, Mr. Essowè Georges Barcola. Several items on the agenda were examined. Some items reviewed related to the status of implementation of the reports of the Regional Council on Insurance Supervision (CRCA) concerning a number of companies in the CIMA zone, as well as the rereading of certain texts, to take into account the evolution of the legal and security environment that prevails within this organization.

According to the chairman of the board, these texts take into account the fight against money laundering, the financing of terrorism, the strengthening of the security of insured persons (taxable persons) as customers of insurance companies. In addition, the President of the Council of Ministers noted that some discussions focused on various issues, relating to the quality of the CIMA portfolio
